Pondicherry 1786 (Feb 23) entire letter from an Italian trader recently arrived in Pondicherry from Madras, mailed back to Rome and carried by a ship from the “La Campagnie de Calonne” via the Cape to L’Orient. Reverse with forwarding agent’s notation “L’Orient le 7bre 1786 – sous couvert de votre tres humble and obedient serviteurs Blantamour Rillied & Co.” in manuscript with “22” charge (Bajocchi) on front panel. A very rare and early entire to an unusual destination.
