India 1832 (Jan 22) MADRAS SOLDIERS LETTER/FREE Giles SD10 on folded letter (and Power of Attorney) endorsed “From George Adams, Sergeant 54th Regiment” and properly countersigned by commanding officer, addressed to Dulwich Common, England, INDIA SOLDIER &c, PLYMOUTH/3 Concessionary Rate Letter (Robertson In. 1) and Madras (Jan. 22) despatch datestamp on back, framed “TP/Rate/2” and “In All” handstamps, partial London transit datestamp, cover and letter with internal splitting and rather heavy edgewear, some slight toning, still very fine strike of this rare Plymouth concessionary rate marking, very few examples are thought to exist.
