India 1924 Mount Everest Expedition labels: scarce usage on GV ½a on ¼a uprated postal stationery postcard, used 28 June 1924 at Pharijong. The back of the card bears a 1924 Expedition label in dark blue tied by “MT. EVEREST EXPEDITION / TIBET” scarce cancel in black (second strike on front) This cancel at Pharijong was in use only for 4 days between June 25-28. This was the Expedition where Mallory and Irvine disappeared near the summit of Everest. Most Expedition cards were used from Darjeeling or Calcutta. Ex Alan Warren
